Title Page from Pandi the Panda by Peter Maplewood.

We are thrilled to announce that Y&M Puzzlebooks is publishing Pandi The Panda, a brand-new children’s picture book by author Peter Maplewood, set to debut on November 1, 2025.

A Gentle Adventure for Young Hearts

In Pandi The Panda, readers ages 3–7 (and bedtime readers of all ages) will join Pandi, a curious and kindhearted panda, on a journey of discovery, friendship, and wonder.

Through softly lyrical text and charming illustrations, the story explores themes of:

  • Curiosity — Pandi’s gentle questions about the world spark small adventures.

  • Empathy & Kindness — Encounters with other creatures teach Pandi (and readers) about caring, sharing, and understanding different perspectives.

  • Courage in Small Moments — Even the littlest characters can be brave in their own way.

Peter Maplewood has crafted prose that is accessible, lyrical, and emotionally resonant—perfect for reading aloud at bedtime or during calm reading time.

Why Pandi The Panda Deserves a Spot on Your Shelf

  • Illustration potential — The concept invites rich, soft, expressive artwork to bring Pandi’s world to life.

  • Conversation starter — Simple narrative moments encourage gentle discussion: “How would you feel if you were Pandi? What would you do?”

  • Library and gift appeal — It’s ideal for preschool libraries, gift stores, and family collections.

Behind the Book: From the Author’s Desk

Peter Maplewood has long been passionate about stories that treat children’s emotional lives with respect. Pandi The Panda is his latest endeavor to provide a soft, imaginative read that fosters wonder over spectacle. (If you like, I can secure a short interview with Peter and include his reflections here.)
